GET TO KNOW OUR STORY

Faruq and Shalana's love story began in the spring of 2017. By the grace of God, they were brought together during a jazz event at Gracianos in Old Sacramento. As Faruq sat listening to the smooth rhythms of the night, his eye was captured by “the most beautiful woman he had ever seen”. In that moment, Faruq, with the excitement of a 5 year old, prayed to God that their paths may become intertwined. Faruq couldn't help but to stare with a smile from ear to ear and Shalana, having noticed his lovely smile, couldn’t help but to smile back as she made her way towards him. There was no doubt an immediate connection between the two and some would be so bold to say that it was love at first sight. Faruq and Shalana spent the next few days going on dates and talking on the phone for hours at a time like a couple of school kids. After only a couple of weeks, Faruq asked Shalana to be his girlfriend. It wasn’t long after that Faruq knew there was something extra special about this particular lady and so he decided the time had come for her to meet his children, Saleha and Jaylen. As they grew together, their like turned into love and Faruq Knew, that Shalana was the one. Inspired by those feelings, In September. Faruq set out to find the perfect ring for this most amazing, God fearing woman. Although Faruq and Shalana had entered 2017 not even knowing one another existed, Faruq felt it only fitting to leave the old and bring in the New Year with a proposal. With the help of Shalana’s sister and brother-in-law. Faruq proposed in Tahoe at the stroke of midnight Overjoyed and with tears in her eyes, Shalana said “Yes!” to the love of her life. Faruq and Shalana believe that it was the work of God that brought them together. Congratulations Faruq and Shalana.
